Today marks the first day of trading for the Grayscale Ethereum Trust, now a publicly-quoted security on OTC Markets under the symbol: ETHE.
What does this mean?
Launched by Grayscale in 2017, ETHE is an open-ended trust that holds Ethereum. Following FINRA approval for public quotation and DTC eligibility, ETHE is now publicly quoted on the OTC Markets.
“Cryptocurrencies — such as Ethereum — offer exposure to a unique set of market opportunities and risks that are uncorrelated to traditional assets. As a result, they can further diversify modern portfolios, enhancing returns per unit of risk (when positions are sized appropriately and maintained over long investment horizons). These opportunities should be accessible to all investors and should be considered within the context of their investment goals, objectives, and risk tolerance,” said Grayscale’s Director, Investments and Research, Matt Beck.
Grayscale is the world’s largest digital currency asset manager. After launching our flagship product, Grayscale Bitcoin Trust in 2013, we have continued to facilitate exposure to digital currencies for the investment community through the creation of additional single-asset investment vehicles as well as a diversified investment vehicle, Grayscale Digital Large Cap FundTM, which provides exposure to the top digital currencies by market capitalization. Our product family provides exposure to Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Horizen (ZEN), Litecoin (LTC), Stellar Lumens (XLM), XRP, and Zcash (ZEC).
Our products are available via private placements to eligible accredited and institutional investors. Several of our products are also available to all investors on the public markets including Grayscale Bitcoin Trust™ (OTCQX: GBTC), Grayscale Ethereum Classic Trust™ (OTCQX: ETCG), and now Grayscale Ethereum Trust (Symbol: ETHE).
