Solana is a leading smart contract blockchain boasting a diverse ecosystem of users, applications, and on-chain assets. The network's native token, SOL, is a digital commodity that helps power the network, and investing in SOL can be considered a way to capture growth in Solana usage over time. For investors aiming to hold a diversified mix of assets in their crypto portfolios, we see several reasons to consider SOL amid this current bout of market volatility:

  1. Leader in fundamentals: Solana led all smart contract blockchains in terms of users, transactions, and transaction fees over the last year.

  2. Positioned for growth: Regulatory clarity is driving adoption of stablecoins and tokenized assets, which can benefit smart contract platforms like Solana.

  3. Staking rewards: SOL offers staking rewards, whereby investors who stake can collect income for helping to secure the network.

  4. Potentially attractive entry point: SOL is down ~67% from its highs in September 2025 (see chart).

  5. Network effects: In the longer term, there will likely be a small number of networks that dominate the industry, in our view, not hundreds of medium-sized blockchains. Solana has the ingredients to be one of the winners, in our view.

  6. Diverse on-chain economy: Solana has it all, from decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols doing trading and lending to decentralized physical infrastructure (DePin) for building out wireless and geo-positioning networks.

Key takeaway: There are lots of crypto assets to choose from. Solana (SOL) is a high performance blockchain and one of the crypto industryโ€™s leading projects today.
